I have been working in the counseling field for 18 years. I utilize a client-centered approach because I believe therapy should focus on each individual client's wants and needs, which vary from person to person. I often use humor in therapy, because I believe laughter is one of the greatest things you can share in this life. I have excellent experience with young children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I have helped people with anger, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance abuse, relationship and life changes, impulse control, and many other topics.
My theoretical approach uses a myriad of techniques, with strong emphasis on Rogerian therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, and play therapy. Which technique may be used is tailored to each individual (or couple or family) experience to best fit personal preference and need.
I believe that every individual is capable of positive and lasting change if he or she so desires and learns and adapts from experiences. I also believe therapy is an excellent tool to assist said individuals in achieving their goals. These are the reasons I chose and love my profession.
